Scope & Introduction
HMT Machine Tools Limited (HMTMTL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of HMT Limited and under Ministry of Heavy Industries. The Company is engaged in the business of designing, developing, manufacturing and marketing of machine tools as well as providing services in reconditioning and refurbishing of machines, catering to both domestic and international market. HMT MTL being pioneer to design & manufacture wide range of Machine Tools in the country continues to meet the needs of Industrialization of the country. It has established Robust Ecosystem for Machine Tool Industry in the country. HMT MTL designs and develops machines for Strategic Sectors like Atomic Energy, Nuclear, Defence, Aero Space, Railways etc as well as Automobiles. HMT MTL has Manufacturing Units at Bengaluru (Karnataka), Hyderabad (Telangana), Pinjore (Haryana), Kalamassery (Kerala) and Ajmer (Rajasthan). HMT MTL also has four regional Marketing offices at New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai.

Achievements/Projects
- In 2019-20, designed, developed and supplied one Number Flow Forming Machine to Ordnance Factory Ambajhari worth of Rs.629 Lakhs. This is first of its kind designed, developed in India as per Prime Minister’s “Make in India” initiative.
- In 2020-21, designed and developed CNC Twin Wheel Head Grinder for simultaneous grinding of both ends of railway axle for ICF Chennai as Import Substitution Product.
- In 2020-21, during COVID Pandemic, Contributed to Control of Pandemic by developing UV Disinfection Tunnel for disinfection of passengers / people at entry / exit points. Also developed Isolation Pods for testing COVID 19 patients. Also, in association with IIT, Hyderabad successfully developed three variants of Ventilators.
- Broad gauge CNC surface wheel lathe was designed and developed for Indian railways in 2022-23
- The Skill Centres of HMT Machine Tools completed training for around 4000 students in various fields making them Industry Ready.
- A Technology Innovation Platform- SURGE developed in association with Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) under the aegis of Ministry of Heavy Industries was launched on July 2021.
- HMT Machine Tools Limited, was felicitated by Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, Hon’ble Union Minister, Ministry of Heavy Industries on 16.09.2023 for the contribution towards successful completion of Chandrayaan-3 Mission by machining of Solid Rocket Motors in HMT-3 Axis CNC, Vertical Facing Machine (VFM- BH112).
- HMT Machine Tools Ltd participated in India Machine Tools Show (IMTOS) from 18th May 2023- 21st May 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Heavy Industries inaugurated the show.
- HMT Machine Tools Ltd participated in IMTEX 2023 at Bangalore in the month of January'23
