- Became a “Central Public Sector Enterprise” in 1987 as subsidiary of erstwhile Bharat Bhari Udyog Nigam Limited(BBUNL). Later BBJ merged with BBUNL and the merged entity was renamed as BBJ in 2015.
- A schedule ‘C’ company and fully owned by Government of India through Ministry of Heavy Industries, BBJ is a profit making and dividend paying CPSE.
- Registered office of BBJ is located in Kolkata.

- Presently constructing Railway Bridges in Manipur, Mizoram, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
